December is almost upon us, so get in the Yuletide spirit with these essential Christmas blockbusters in Cineworld. From outer space adventures to earthbound dramas and everything in between, we've got your festive season of films sewn up.
1. Frozen 2 (on release now)
Disney's sequel to 2013's Frozen has already broken box office records for an animated movie. And the reason is simple: it's joyous to see Anna, Elsa and the gang back for another spellbinding blend of warmth, humour and memorable songs.
The story this time sends the sisters, Olaf, Kristoff and Sven beyond the boundaries of Arendelle, and is resplendent in all the gorgeous animation we've come to expect.

2. Jumanji: The Next Level (previewing 7th & 8th December; released 13th December)
Back in 2017, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle emerged as a delightful surprise. It both honoured the spirit of the 1995 Robin Williams movie and advanced the mythology, transforming the world of Jumanji from board to video game, in which mismatched avatars take the place of teenage game players.
The winning ensemble of Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Karen Gillan and Kevin Hart all return, as Jumanji now unleashes a host of new challenges and environments.

3. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (released 19th December)
No mere big screen experience, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is history in the making. This is the resolution to the sweeping Skywalker saga that first began way back in 1977's A New Hope, and therefore comes loaded with all manner of nostalgic heritage.
Director JJ Abrams marshals the final confrontation between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), as the newly emergent Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) appears to steer events from behind the scenes. This is set to be our final jaunt into the galaxy for a few years, so don't miss it.

4. Cats (released 20th December)
Andrew Lloyd Webber's blockbusting stage musical Cats comes to the big screen, with its A-list cast rendered (controversially) via CGI into humanoid felines.
And what a cast it is: Taylor Swift, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Jason Derulo, Ian McKellen and Judi Dench are among those belting out the Lloyd Webber showtunes that have had audiences spellbound for decades. Behind the camera is Tom Hooper, who knows a thing or two about musicals having steered 2012's Les Miserables to Oscar-winning success.
5. Little Women (released 26th December)
Greta Gerwig adapts Louisa May Alcott's classic novel, injecting a dash of the energy and spark that distinguished her terrific directorial debut, Lady Bird.
Early reviews have praised Gerwig's take on the novel, and the all-star cast has been acclaimed. The ensemble is led by Saoirse Ronan as the headstrong Jo March (Alcott's autobiographical stand-in), with Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen and Emma Watson playing the remaining March sisters.
