Cineworld Unlimited members were lucky enough to catch Knives Out in advance last night. Rian Johnson's devilishly entertaining whodunit stars Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, the heir apparent to Hercule Poirot, who must solve an apparently impossible murder.
The victim: famous crime writer Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), who presided over a vast literary empire. Getting to the bottom of the mystery and identifying the killer is where the fun begins, as each of Thrombey's family members come under the spotlight. The excellent cast includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Chris Evans, Toni Colette, Don Johnson and Ana de Armas.
So, how did Unlimited audiences react? We'll start with this from Phil Roberts who lauds the movie as one of 2019's best.
#KnivesOut was absolutely spectacular. @rianjohnson has successfully reinvented the murder mystery genre for the modern era and added the contemporary twist we NEVER KNEW it needed!

Congratulations #RianJohnson. You and your team have outdone yourselves. #CineworldUnlimited
Morbro dot co praises the efforts of Johnson and his cast, all of whom update the murder mystery for the 21st century.
in a year that includes Booksmart and Long Shot, #KnivesOut might actually be the funniest, smartest, most thrilling film i've seen. a classic whodunit with mazy twists & "the dumbest car chase ever." @rianjohnson has repaid the faith of all the Brothers Bloom fans with this one.

Mal Jutley says there's a standout performance amidst the formidable ensemble.
What a fun ride #KnivesOut is! A throwback to the murder mystery films that we've enjoyed in the past. Daniel Craig is excellent in it and Ana De Armas is great as the one caught in the middle of the riddle. Stellar cast and great storytelling. Loved it! @KnivesOut Loved it!!

Spoonlamp concurs, saying the cast are clearly having a ball.
Loved it! Really good film! You could tell everyone really enjoyed their roles. It's great fun, colourful and the audience I e's with all enjoyed themselves. Ana De Armas going from strength to strength, really ties it all together

As a newcomer to the classic murder mystery, Kyle Snape says the movie is terrifically enjoyable.
It was a excellent murder mystery that thankfully takes the formula to tell a story that feels new and fresh. It’s the first time I watched a murder mystery and had no real clue of where it was going to go which make it very rewarding.

Ana de Armas is also phenomenal.
Kyran Gibbons is another viewer who singles out Ana de Armas for praise.
Rian Johnson has clocked it over the fence with this one. Razor sharp story with plenty of wit. All of the acting was first rate, but Ana de Armas in particular left nothing on the table. Wow.
