We all know the Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting bigger and more spectacular. Just look at recent release Avengers: Age of Ultron, which has already taken more than $200m at the global box office.
And as further evidence of Marvel's grandiose intentions, one of its poster boys, Chris Evans, has said that the two-part Avengers: Infinity War will shoot for a mammoth nine months.
The actor is of course famous for playing patriotic superhero Captain America in two standalone movies, The First Avenger and The Winter Soldier, as well as Avengers Assemble and Age of Ultron. Infinity War will reunite Evans with Winter Soldier directors Joe and Anthony Russo.
"We start the Infinity War, I think, some time in the third quarter," Evans tells Esquire. "Fall or winter of 2016. That's going to be like nine months to shoot both movies back to back."
Outside of epic trilogies like Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, this sort of lengthy filming schedule is largely unprecedented, the reason being that the two halves will be shot back to back. Part 1 is confirmed to be hitting our screens on 2nd May 2018 with Part II due for release on 3rd May 2019.
So it looks like Evans will be donning the star spangled uniform for a little while longer. And before all of that, there's the small matter of Cappy's next standalone adventure Civil War, in which the tensions between the Star Spangled Man and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) escalate into all-out conflict.
