Captain Marvel 2 is a key title in Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Brie Larson will return as the title character, who was treated to her big-screen origin story in 2019. The movie showed us how she transformed from human fighter pilot Carol Danvers into a Kree warrior, although she eventually turned against her adopted race after discovering their plans to obliterate the Skrulls.
Candyman's Nia DaCosta will be helming the project (replacing the first film's Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck). It was announced via the film's Twitter page that new faces Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris will be joining the cast. Both actors will be incorporated from their respective Disney+ projects, playing Ms Marvel and the grown-up Monica Rambeau (from WandaVision), respectively.

Ms. Marvel is the umbrella name for many different characters in Marvel comic book lore. She was designed as a counterpart to Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and, like her namesake, gained her powers via Kree genetics. Monica Rambeau, meanwhile, is the daughter of the first film's Maria, played by Lashana Lynch.
Captain Marvel 2 has now been pushed back to 11th November 2022, and, as mentioned, will serve as part of Marvel Phase Five. Excited? Let us know @Cineworld.
