Expect a big-screen monster mash of epic proportions in the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. This March, one-time enemies Godzilla and King Kong become reluctant rivals in their battle against an even deadlier threat – and, naturally, we hapless humans are caught right in the middle of it.
The good news is this set-up allows for plenty of roar-some and thunderous set pieces that promise to blow away the winter cobwebs. Brit favourites Dan Stevens and Rebecca Hall are the wide-eyed scientists who follow Kong, one of the two Titans along with Godzilla, into the centre of the Earth where they're confronted with all kinds of phantasmagorical, pink-inflected sights.
One of them is a young, but still oversized simian – is this a baby Kong? The trailer keeps its cards close to its chest, but once Godzilla emerges in a blur of blue atomic breath, you won't be pondering the details. Rather, you'll be eagerly anticipating the oversized action to come in the expanding MonsterVerse.
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is directed by Adam Wingard who helmed the previous MonsterVerse instalment Godzilla vs Kong (2021). You can expect to see the latest movie in the franchise on release from March 29th.
