The Inbetweeners 2 is more than just a follow-up to the most successful British comedy film of all time. It's also a lads' reunion between stars James Buckley, Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and Blake Harrison, the talented young actors who play loveably idiotic teens Jay, Will, Simon and Neil.
In Cineworld's exclusive Inbetweeners 2 interview, the guys admitted they were more than a little shell-shocked by the first film's enormous success ("Flabbergasted!" was Bird's enjoyably old-fashioned turn of phrase). So consequently, the chance to hang out on set again during the filming of the sequel was something the foursome jumped at.
"It was nice to come back to do this show because I think we had all sort of gone away and tried to do other things," Thomas explains to The Mirror. "It was nice to be able to be in tune again and slot back into this quite childish thing that we have with each other."
Scene-stealer James Buckley, responsible for many of the show's (and film's) unprintable lines, says the group dynamic off-set is what keeps the performances lively when the cameras start rolling. "We’re always emailing and texting, winding each other up," he says. "That is so much fun and that will always keep us together, which is nice."
I'd have to agree – if there's one thing that becomes immediately apparent when watching a movie, it's whether actors genuinely like each other's company. And having interviewed the four guys myself, I can attest to the fact that they have comic chemistry in spades.
For that reason, I can't wait to wait to see the actors click on-screen like they did back in 2011 and in the original TV series. Click here to book your tickets for The Inbetweeners 2.
