Have you heard about National Theatre At Home? It's the brilliant new way of streaming the best live productions into your own front room – entirely for free.
Every Thursday at 7PM UK time, they will be releasing one NT Live title on the National Theatre’s YouTube channel that can be watched for free, on-demand for seven days only.
It's exactly what we all need during this time of stringent, nationwide lockdowns. This week, we're introducing One Man, Two Guvnors, including all the details of where you can stream it.
What is the story of One Man, Two Guvnors?
Richard Bean's amusing and endearing stage show is based on 'The Servant of Two Masters' by Italian playwright Carlo Goldoni. Written in 1746, Goldoni's play is about a hungry house servant who aims to score more food by doing the job of two men. Of course, he has to keep the news a secret from both of his employers.
Bean updates the farcical tale in One Man, Two Guvnors, setting it in Brighton in 1963. The story centres on ex-skiffle player Francis Henshall who is caught between London gangster Roscoe Crabb and fugitive Stanley Stubbers. The production is rated 12A by the BBFC for strong language.
Who stars in One Man, Two Guvnors?
Gavin and Stacey's James Corden delivers a Tony award-winning performance as the hapless Francis. Multiple tours have occurred since the play's opening National Theatre run in 2011, and The Guardian awarded it a five-star review, describing it as "A triumph of visual and verbal comedy. One of the funniest productions in the National's history."
How long is One Man, Two Guvnors available to stream for?
