Marvel heroes from the big and the small screens must come together to save humanity in the new trailer for The Marvels. (That's Captain Marvel 2, for those who need reminding.)
Brie Larson's Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel returns and she's now fully embraced her heroic alter-ego, having fought off her evil Kree mentors in her 2019 origin story. But the big draw here will be the big-screen debut of Iman Vellani's Ms Marvel (aka Kamala Khan) who graduates from the acclaimed small-screen show of the same name to mix it up Larson's central character.
Or is she the central character? In a twist reminiscent of Freaky Friday and Big, Carol is forced to swap bodies with Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), the daughter of her close friend Maria (Lashana Lynch). This results from a vengeful plot spun by the villainous Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton) who, as one might expect, wants to conquer the known universe with a magical bracelet.
Carol/Monica and Monica/Carol must team up with Kamala to stop that from happening. The end result looks much more quippy and visually colourful than the first Captain Marvel movie, and Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury is on hand to lend gravitas (presumably in the wake of his Secret Invasion story arc).
Candyman's Nia DaCosta directs and the movie acts as the next chapter in Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Marvels is released on November 10th so check out the new trailer below.
