Nominated for Best Picture alongside three other Oscar nominations, The Secret Agent is the only foreign language film to feature in the category, and it’s arriving at Cineworld on the 20th February.
Unlimited members got to enjoy an early screening of the neo-noir political thriller set in Brazil, in which a technology professor attempts to outrun his past during the political turmoil of the Brazilian military dictatorship. He journeys from São Paulo during the carnival to Recife where his son has been living. Along the way, though, while staying in a refuge, it becomes clear he is being spied on.
Arriving at Cineworld on 20th February, you’ll also be able to book to watch The Secret Agent during our Award Film Season on 11th March.

Beautifully shot and cast, and I can't stop thinking about it. Reading other reviews/observations is only making it grow in my estimation. I've got a booking for the March 11th showing too :) Looks so good on the big screen!

I’m gonna be thinking about this film for a while
If you’re after a film that’s going to leave you diving into many an internet worm hole, The Secret Agent is right up your street.
I'm gonna be spending a large part of tomorrow looking into everything that went into that ending... I've got questions.

Every day is a school day!
Joseph concurs. The Secret Agent shines a light on an often underrepresented era in history and the individuals it affected.
Great cinematography throughout, and excellent set dressing which really transports you into 1970 Brazil, showcasing both the beauty and corruption. I appreciated the film shining a light on the persecuted individuals trying to live in a time and place that wants them gone.

And as any self-respecting thriller promises, this was nail-biting stuff. Just ask David.
