Taylor Sheridan is now established as one of Hollywood's finest screenwriters. Sicario, Hell or High Water and Wind River (which he also directed) take a singularly uncompromising yet gripping view of violence, loyalty and betrayal along the modern-day American frontier. And his new movie, Those Who Wish Me Dead, is set to continue the philosophy.
Based on Michael Koryta's book of the same name, the film focuses on a Montana forest firefighter who comes across a stranded young boy. The kid is a witness to a violent crime and two sharp-suited, psychotic assassins are looking to silence him. Before long, an encroaching blaze threatens to burn everything down, prompting a desperate battle for survival.
Bringing the star power is Maleficent's Angelina Jolie, playing the haunted yet noble Hannah Faber. She's backed by The Favourite's Nicholas Hoult and Game of Thrones' Aiden Gillen as the creepy sibling killers, Patrick and Jack Blackwell. In support: Jon Bernthal (who made memorable appearances in Sicario and Wind River), Tyler Perry and Toy Kittles while newcomer Finn Little plays the endangered Connor.
Koryta has contributed to the screenplay, along with Sheridan and Blood Diamond's Charles Leavitt, so fans of the book can surely hope for a relatively loyal adaptation. Check out the trailer and let us know what you think @Cineworld. Those Who Wish Me Dead is due for release on 17th May 2021.
