Jubilant about being able to book your tickets for Spider-Man: No Way Home? Your day just got better with the news that we'll be getting more Tom Holland Spidey movies in the future.
Although the talented young Brit has spoken of the desire to spread his wings, franchise producer Amy Pascal has said we'll definitely be getting more of Holland in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel — [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie,” Pascal told Fandango. “We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel, it just isn’t part of… we’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”
Whether this will overlap with the adjacent Sony Marvel Universe (Venom et al) or the animated Sony Spider-Verse movies is unclear at this stage. Given that Holland's current contract ends with No Way Home, the way is open. On the possibility of multiple Spider-Man universes overlapping, Pascal tantalisingly adds: "We all want to keep making movies together. How’s that for an answer?"
It should be stressed that no official deal has been struck yet (reports Variety). However, given the popularity and lucrative appeal of Holland's portrayal, it seems highly likely that he will swing into action again before long, be it in a solo movie or an ensemble movie. Homecoming grossed $880 million worldwide and Far From Home netted $1.13 billion globally.
In the meantime, we're anticipating the reveal of the live-action multiverse in No Way Home. Holland's Peter Parker teams up with Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to reverse the consequences of his identity being leaked at the end of Far From Home. However, the spell goes wrong, unleashing various non-MCU Spider-Man villains on New York including Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) and Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe).
