It’s dramatic and visually stunning, there are time jumps and it’s action-packed – the official teaser trailer for Dune: Part Three has dropped, and the shock is reverberating. The epic conclusion of the Dune trilogy, with a release date of 18th December, might be nine months away, but the teaser trailer has whipped up our excitement no end and reveals a fair few surprises.
The new trailer sure does back up Denis Villeneuve’s promise that part three is a different movie from the first two – more thriller, stuffed with tension and packed with action. There’s a huge time skip, set years after we last saw Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) enjoying hero status. But having too much power comes at a terrible cost, as the trailer reveals… Take a peek at the teaser, (as if you haven't already… multiple times…) of one of the biggest film releases of 2026.
The breakout news is that Robert Pattinson has a bleached blonde buzz-cut in Dune: Part Three!
While news of Robert Pattinson's casting dropped in November 2025, we definitely weren't expecting that shock of blonde. While the teaser doesn’t give much away, we know he plays Scytale – a shapeshifting Face Dancer whose agenda threatens House Atreides.
Time skips forward, and hero Paul is now a hardened Emperor
The story jumps forward 17 years after the events of Part Two, and Paul is trapped inside his own power and cycle of violence. As a result, many atrocities have happened in his name, and opposing factions want to bring him down.
Paul’s prescience has expanded, letting him perceive branching futures and buried consequences – but never with perfect clarity. The stakes are higher than ever: will he be killed before he finds a way to set humanity on the golden path? Watch out for Scytale, there’s sure to be more beneath the surface.
And speaking of returns, Duncan Idaho is back – but how??
Jason Momoa’s character died in Dune: Part One – it was sudden and left us reeling. Now, one of the biggest shockers of the trailer is that Duncan Idaho returns as Hayt, a ghola grown from Duncan Idaho’s dead cells, and altered. But what is his new purpose, and just whose side is he on?
Another highlight: Anya Taylor-Joy’s character looks awesome!
As Paul’s younger sister, Alia, Anya Taylor-Joy put in a very brief appearance at the very end of part two. As a pre-born Bene Gesserit, Alia has an unnerving amount of power, and we can’t wait to see her dangerous presence in part three. Her intense, ethereal presence, as hinted at in the trailer, suggests she’s entwined with Paul’s narrative arc.
Is Chani pregnant?!
In the teaser trailer, Paul and Chani have an intimate moment and talk about possible baby names… Given that their love is the heart of the story, what does this mean? And is there really to be a child. And if so, will that child continue the story beyond Dune: Part Three, or is this massive finale really the end?
Which brings us to the big question: is this really the end? Inspired by fan reactions, Villeneuve changed his mind and got a move on with part two sooner than first planned. He states clearly that part three is Dune’s epic conclusion. However, with the novels on which the trilogy is based continuing, and the franchise’s success with Warner Bros, speculation among fans continues to grow.
