Sega icon Sonic the Hedgehog speeds into action alongside James Marsden in this clip from the new video game movie. After an extensive CGI redesign, the big-screen version of Sonic now finally looks (and sounds) the part: pie-eyed, endearing yet more than a little cocky, courtesy of voice actor Ben Schwartz.
This extract is more banter-led than anything else, although we get the briefest glimpse of Sonic's lightning-quick abilities. Marsden plays the hapless Sheriff who becomes embroiled in Sonic's battle with evil arch-nemesis Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey). Although the classic baddie is nowhere to be seen, we can hope for a future clip that puts him front and centre.
Sonic the Hedgehog is released in Cineworld cinemas on the 14th of February. Let us know @Cineworld if you think it'll run rings around the video game competition.
