Spider-Man: No Way Home is swinging high at the UK box office already. The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, and the third Spidey film to star Tom Holland, has posted a remarkable £7.6 million opening day, reports Screen Daily. That means it's already outstripped No Time To Die's domestic opening day gross of £4.8 million.
We eagerly anticipate the film's totals from around the world – given the level of hype and excitement, expectations are that No Way Home will become one of the year's biggest hits. The latest Spider-Man adventure throws Holland's web-slinger into the multiverse after a spell cast by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) goes wrong.
The movie is clearly riding a crest of nostalgia: the story features returning villains Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe), Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) and Electro (Jamie Foxx), all of whom originated outside the MCU. It's also validation for Holland's terrific interpretation of the wall-crawler, one that he has invested with palpable notes of vulnerability and naivete.
