We’re on a mission to celebrate the big man himself. Yes, that’s right, today is Tom Cruise’s birthday, and there feels no better way to celebrate his existence on this planet, delivering us blockbuster after blockbuster, than to talk about our favourite Tom Cruise movies.
Much like Tom is a fan of going to Cineworld when he touches down in the UK, we’re a fan of our followers and getting your opinions on the best of the best.
We asked – and you delivered.
A Few Good Men (1992)
— Puneet Jassi (@p_jassi) July 1, 2025
Not only an incredibly accurate GIF for us to squeeze in here… First up, A Few Good Men. Originally released in 1992, Tom Cruise starred alongside Jack Nicholson and Demi Moore, following the court case of two US Marines charged with the murder of a fellow Marine. The compelling story made more than $230 million at the box office globally, and was nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.
War of the Worlds (2005)
For X user Chris, his pick was the 2005 H. G. Wells adaptation of War of the Worlds.
War Of The Worlds. He was absolutely fantastic in it, and I need you guys to show on the big screen please 😁

Directed by Steven Spielberg, Tom Cruise played the lead role, Ray Ferrier, as the world is taken over by extraterrestrial war machines and Cruise must protect his two estranged children played by Dakota Fanning and Justin Chatwin.
Interview with a Vampire (1994)
Tom, we almost didn’t recognise you! Westie’s favourite has to be Interview with a Vampire alongside Brad Pitt. An adaptation of the 1976 novel by Anne Rice, Cruise’s character Lestat de Lioncourt turns Louis (Pitt) into a vampire. Not the first vegetarian vampire (sorry, Cullens), Louis feeds on animal blood, resisting his instinct to kill. The structure of the film sees Louis share his story with a reporter in the modern day (well, the mid 90s).

Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
Wading into more action-packed territory, Jack was a big fan of Edge of Tomorrow, with Tom and Emily Blunt taking on a future ravaged by an alien race. The only way to combat it? With guns for arms, of course!
Besides the MI films, I love Edge Of Tomorrow

Days of Thunder (1990)
Forget F1 (not really!), Days of Thunder follows Tom Cruise as a young USAC racer who ends up on Chevrolet’s racing team for the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. The movie sees Tom Cruise get his first co-writer credit.

The Outsiders (1983)
After some Baby Cruise? The Outsiders was one of Tom Cruise's first films, a coming-of-age movie that saw a gang of teens, the Greasers, come to blows with the Socials, ending in a fatality that sets the course of the rest of the film.

Of course, there was also a lot of love for both the Top Gun and Mission: Impossible franchise
The amount of times we've accidentally typed out Tom Gun says it all. But it goes without saying that some of the most popular answers were for Tom Cruise's performance in both action movies, with many hardpressed to pick out a standout in either franchise.
He’s been in some truly incredible films:

The Colour of Money, Rain Man, A Few Good Men, Jerry Maguire, Edge of Tomorrow…
But I’ve got to go with Top Gun: Maverick.
A spectacle unlike anything seen at the cinema in decades. pic.twitter.com/oL6bzPR7lT
Maverick nothing comes close

For some users, though, it was too hard to pick.
Impossible to pick just one!

Sometimes – not often, but sometimes – the mission really is impossible…
