Brad Pitt takes to the track in F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski, with Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton accredited as a producer. Set to be released on June 25, F1 follows Sonny Hayes, a former racing champion whose career ended prematurely following a crash in the 90s, as he’s pulled out of retirement in order to mentor the next Formula One prodigy Noah Pearce, portrayed by Damson Idris.
One of the upcoming Filmed for IMAX titles, deciding which format to watch F1 in might be a moot point. However, F1 is zooming into Cineworld cinemas in not only IMAX, but also 4DX, ScreenX, and Superscreen. And we’re here to explain what each format has to offer so you can decide which is the one for you.
Pump the breaks and take in F1 in breathtaking IMAX
As mentioned, F1 was Filmed for IMAX. That makes an IMAX screen all the more impressive, not simply optimised for the impressive cinemas, but actually tailormade from the start using IMAX-certified digital cameras.
These titles also feature IMAX’s exclusive 1.90:1 Expanded Aspect Ratio. Where some titles use this in certain scenes, F1 is shot in EAR for every last second, allowing you to feel like you’re taking the wheel in this compelling drama and visually experience every last turn, skid, and screech of breaks.
Essentially, if you want to watch F1 as it was intended by director Joseph Kosinski, booking your tickets in IMAX is the one true way to really take in this heartracing (and car racing) masterpiece.
F1 in 4DX puts you right in the driver’s seat
4DX isn’t just about watching a film; it’s a whole experience, and going to see F1 in 4DX is sure to be next level.
Want to know what it feels like to be in the driver’s seat of a Formula One car? Exclusive to Cineworld, 4DX’s moving seats will throw you around each tight turn on the track, with the wind blowing through your hair. You’ll feel the vibrations of every scrape and collision on the racing track – perfect for any adrenaline junkies heading to the cinema.
Feel like you’re on the racing track in F1 with ScreenX
Both IMAX and 4DX offer immersive experiences in different ways, and ScreenX comes in as another all-consuming option.
ScreenX screenings offer an almost-wrap-around visual with its 270º projection. One way to be surrounded by the fumes coming off the track and be one with the racing car, why not watch F1 on a ScreenX at Cineworld?
Go even bigger with F1 on Superscreen
Cineworld’s Superscreen option is an exceptional way to watch blockbuster movies, offering worldbuilding sound through Dolby Atmos speakers and truly giant screens.
Amazing for movies not otherwise powered by IMAX, we think if you’re considering Superscreen for F1, you’re actually better off heading to an IMAX screening to watch the Brad Pitt movie as it was intended to be watched, with Superscreen otherwise great for incoming blockbusters that don’t already have the power of IMAX cameras behind them.
Don't put your foot on the brake, make sure you've got your tickets booked for F1, arriving at Cineworld from June 25.
