Hold on tight, spider monkey – the Twilight movies are showing at Cineworld and these are the scenes we can’t wait to rewatch

Where have you been, Loca? The whole Twilight series is returning to Cineworld, meaning you can witness all that sparkly vampire goodness on the big screen. Whether you’re Team Edward or Team Jacob, get your T-shirts on and let's head all the way back to 2008 (wow, we feel old).

As big fans of the movies, there are so many standout moments across the five films, including Edward saving Bella and denting Eric’s car, first catching a whiff of her in Biology, and every single scene that Charlie Swan features. Personal preferences aside, we’ve pulled together the best Twilight scenes that we can’t wait to see blown up on the big screen again.

“And so the lion fell in love with the lamb”

For fans that went through their adolescence with the Twilight releases, some of the more romantic lines as penned by Stephanie Meyer are scribbled on our souls. No matter how you feel about them in hindsight, all our teenage selves wanted to be told by our crush we would be loved for every moment of forever. Perhaps the first version of this kind of teenage lovesick gooiness is when Bella realises what Edward is.

From the initial exchange ( “I know what you are.” “Say it. Out loud.” “Vampire.”) to Edward’s extensive performance in order to try and put Bella off pursuing him. Bella admits, though, that she's not afraid of him, she’s only afraid of losing him. And then the line that made all our teenage hearts soar: “And so the lion fell in love with the lamb.” “What a stupid lamb.” “What a sick, masochistic lion.” Stunning.

The Cullens play baseball during a thunderstorm

The Twilight soundtrack is incredible and iconic in its own right. There are so many scenes that are elevated by the song choice, none more epic than the use of Muse’s “Supermassive Black Hole” drumming through the scene in which the Cullens choose to play baseball. Due to their unimaginable strength, they comically note they can only play the sport when there’s a thunderstorm where the crash of the bat hitting the ball could be mistaken for rumbles of thunder.

As Bella umpires the game, we also get to witness the Cullens’ vampiric speed, as well as their familial, competitive bond before the game comes to an abrupt end when outsider vampires James, Victoria, and Laurent rock up and James takes a fancy to Bella’s scent and wishes to hunt and kill her. It’s all fun and games… until it’s not.

Jacob finally has his glow up in New Moon

We’re not saying Jacob’s long hair in Twilight and the first however many minutes of New Moon isn’t divine, but there’s a collective agreement that Jacob revealing his new shorn haircut is A Moment. A pretty hot moment. But that’s not the glow up we mean. We mean the furry, grizzling werewolf kind.

Provoking one of his pack, Jacob suddenly appears from his and Billy’s house, running to protect Bella. She, unawares, tells him to run from the werewolf. However, as he leaps – rather impressively – over Bella, he too transforms into a russet brown werewolf.

Bella rescues Edward (and ends her reign of depresso)

New Moon is pretty bleak, if only because we have to watch Bella a shell of her former self, mourning the departure of Edward, before then turning into a self-destructive, aggravating mess. Thankfully, it all comes to an end as she travels to Volterra in Italy to stop Edward outing himself as a vampire publicly in order to provoke the Volturi into killing him. We never said Twilight wasn’t incredibly angst-ridden and dramatic.

It’s the stuff of romcoms where one love interest races through the airport (security checks be damned) to confess their love, except Bella is weaving through red veiled festival goers, crashing through a fountain and throwing herself against Edward as he unbuttons his shirt to reveal his sparkly, pasty chest. Swoon.

The love triangle reaches a fever pitch in Eclipse

Two attractive men in their own right brooding over Bella? This is what dreams are made of. Since killing her mate, Victoria is on the warpath, ready to avenge James’ death and kill Bella. So what does one do when they’ve got two boys battling to win her heart and a hungry vampire trying to track her? You head to the peak of a snowy mountain, pitch up a tiny tent, and cosy up with the two of them. It just makes sense.

Why is this one of the best moments in the Twilight series? The tension is just so good, with Edward having to admit defeat and watch his girlfriend snuggle up to Jacob whose body runs a lot hotter than a stone cold vampire. Jacob’s line, “I’m hotter than you” had a double meaning and Edward knows it.

Of course, it all goes a bit pear shaped when Jacob overhears a conversation between Edward and Bella where they discuss their recent engagement and he storms off, culminating in Bella running after him and Jacob landing a kiss on her, only for Bella to try and punch him in response. Of course, the dude’s a werewolf with rockhard abs, so it does more damage to her hand than it does Jacob.

Edward and Bella get married in Breaking Dawn – Part 1

There is a lot we could talk about in the first part of Breaking Dawn. From the bed breaking when Bella and Edward first, you know… To Bella’s, quite frankly, freaky pregnancy. But we have to spare a moment for Bella and Edward’s wedding. It feels like we’re all waiting, with bated breath, for the pair to finally tie the knot, and the wedding is beautiful, serenaded by a new version of Iron & Wine’s “Flightless Bird, American Mouth", which Edward and Bella first dance to at the end of the first film.

They then have their first dance to “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri – another perfect choice. We told you, the soundtracks are just everything in these movies and this feels like a real time capsule of that era of pop music.

The final shot where Bella first opens her eyes post turning

Okay, we said the wedding was the moment we’d been waiting for, but actually, really, it was the moment Bella finally gets her wish to become a vampire. After giving birth to her bloodsucking baby, Bella’s heart stops and no amount of CPR from Jacob or Edward’s submission to finally turn Bella and inject her with his venom seem to work. She lays unconscious for days, though her wounds from her C-section begin to rapidly heal.

As was the case with a lot of book to screen adaptations, the final book in the series was split into two, meaning that final shot needed to be a worthy cliffhanger to end on. The shot in question? A close-up of Bella finally waking up and revealing her new, red vampire eyes.

The final showdown with the Volturi

The final instalment in the franchise sees a showdown between the Cullens, their allies, and the Volturi after they perceive Edward and Bella’s child, Renesmee, to be an “immortal child” AKA a human child that has been turned into a vampire and doesn’t age. While this isn’t the case – Alice proves as much by showing a vision to Aro of Renesmee grown up – a battle still appears to break out between the two sides. This turns out to also be a part of her vision, depicting the deaths of many Volturi should they not accept this truth.

Of course, we don’t know the fight scene is a part of the vision until after the fact, seeing the likes of the beloved Carlisle decapitated by Arlo, fueling an epic clash between the Cullens and their allies, including the werewolves, and the Volturi. The fact this isn’t a reality and the Volturi leave in peace with their tails between their legs just adds to how satisfying this is to see played out.
