With the release of Superman, which you can currently watch at Cineworld, the movie branch of the brand new DC Universe has officially entered Hollywood. Much like the MCU and its phases, James Gunn’s film and TV projects will be split into different eras, the first of which is named Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
With many titles already confirmed, we’ve created a guide of all the upcoming DC Universe movies that are already confirmed and all the plot details we know so far, too.
Superman (booking now)
The first of the movies from the DC Universe slate, James Gunn’s Superman introduces us to a younger Clark Kent as he grapples with his Kryptonian identity and human family while working as a reporter alongside colleague Lois Lane.
A man of integrity who stands by the importance of truth and justice, the world we find Superman now shuns those beliefs as Superman attempts to save the world and resolve conflicts in international territories, with tech bro Lex Luthor hellbent on removing Superman once and for all.
Supergirl (26th June, 2026)
In contrast to Superman, Supergirl's upbringing was a whole lot different. Take being raised by a loving human family and swap it for seeing their home planet Krypton torn to ruins and watching as all your family die. Supergirl, or Kara Zor-El, is a lot rougher around the edges than Superman, with the next DC Universe movie described by Gunn as “a big science fiction epic film”. Milly Alcock of House of the Dragon fame will play Supergirl, with the plot based on the comic book Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
The first poster for the Supergirl movie was recently revealed.

Clayface (11th September, 2026)
The next confirmed instalment of the DCU will arrive just a few months after Supergirl in the form of Clayface, a supervillain that features heavily in the DC comics. Turning it on its head, though, the movie is said to move away from Clayfaces’ depiction as a typical villain, though little else has been given away about the plot with filming scheduled in August 2025.
Tom Rhys Harries has been cast as Clayface, a character typically depicted as a failing actor who utilises substances in order to remain relevant.
The Authority (TBC)
Confirmed to link to Superman, The Authority sees WildStorm characters introduced to the DC Universe with DC Comics having purchased the independent book publisher in 2011. Again, little is known about The Authority movie and its plot.
Gunn has said that other projects have taken priority and that it has been a struggle to pull together a script. He did describe the ensemble of characters that create The Authority as having to fix a completely broken world by “[taking] things into their own hands, whether that means killing people, destroying heads of state, changing governments, you know, whatever they want to do to make the world better.”
The Brave and the Bold (TBC)
There have been a lot of Batman iterations in the world of Hollywood, but the DC Universe is adamant it's not adding to that trend. That said, The Brave and the Bold is said to explore the relationship between Batman and Robin in what Gunn has described as a "strange father and son story", seeing Batman's son Damien Wayne as Robin.
With Robert Pattinson’s The Batman: Part II expected in late 2027, the DC Universe project is currently sitting on the backburner.
Swamp Thing (TBC)
Set to defy genre within the DC Universe, Swamp Thing is currently pegged as a gothic horror that will explore the origin story of Swamp Thing. It’s being directed by Indiana Jones legend James Mangold, who will be endeavouring to keep it as a standalone movie of the often overlooked DC antihero.
Other DC Universe movies in the works
An as of yet named Wonder Woman movie is in the works and will sit within Chapter One of the DC Universe. There are also a number of other projects, including 'Untitled Teen Titans film', 'Untitled Bane and Deathstroke film' and Sgt. Rock.
