Disney’s Snow White: 7 reasons why you need to watch the all-new musical blockbuster at Cineworld

Your local Cineworld cinema will be filled with magic and sparkle this month, as Disney’s Snow White comes rolling into town (from 21 March). Coming 88 years after the classic animation film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Marc Webb’s all-new, live-action musical blockbuster provides a fresh take on the popular Brothers Grimm fairytale, casting West Side Story actress Rachel Zegler as the titular princess, Gal Gadot as her nemesis the Evil Queen, and a whole bunch of talented voice actors as the team of mini-helpers. Featuring stunning special effects, an enthralling storyline and a cluster of catchy new songs, Disney’s Snow White promises to be a feast of fun for the whole family.

But what else is there to know about this new blockbuster? Read on to discover more about this movie treat and why you need to watch it at Cineworld…

1. It stars two of Hollywood’s biggest talents

It always helps when a movie features a great cast, and Disney’s Snow White certainly ticks that box. Playing the titular heroine is Rachel Zegler, who picked up a Golden Globe for her performance as Maria in the 2021 remake of West Side Story, while the Evil Queen role is filled by Gal Gadot, whose movie credits include Wonder Woman, Death on the Nile and Fast X. As if those two weren’t enough of a draw, they’re joined by Tony Award-winning actor Andrew Burnap as Snow White’s love interest, Jonathan, and seven of the hottest voice talents around as her diminutive companions.

2. It looks very exciting from the trailer

When the first trailer for Disney’s Snow White landed back in December, there was a tangible sense of anticipation among film fans. And the teaser didn’t disappoint. Clocking in at two minutes and 24 seconds, it gave cinemagoers an enticing glimpse of what they had in store come March 2025: lavish sets, magical special effects, elaborate costumes and, of course, substantial screen presence from the two leading actresses. If you’ve not seen it yet, you’ll find it further up the page.

3. It features a new, “stronger” Snow White

As we explain in our article 6 awesome movies with strong female characters that are showing at Cineworld this year, films featuring empowering women seem to be increasing in popularity. And Disney’s Snow White is following this trend. In a recent interview with BuzzFeed, Rachel Zegler explained the reasoning for this. "There’s not much I can say about it besides the fact that Snow White has constantly been criticised," she said. "Even though she's the original Disney princess and we love her so much, [she's been] criticised for existing solely for a prince, existing solely to be rescued. And I think that our director, Marc Webb, and everyone who's working on this film has really taken her narrative and turned it into something that's a lot stronger. And I'm very, very excited to be able to bring that to life."

4. It's got some great new songs… and some old ones

For this new reboot, Disney hired the services of songwriting duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, whose previous credits include La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen and The Greatest Showman. Pasek and Paul wrote several catchy new songs for Snow White, including the opening ensemble number ‘Good Things Grow’, the rousing ballad ‘Waiting on a Wish’ and even a song for the Evil Queen, ‘All is Fair’. There’s good news for traditionalists, though, as this updated movie features several of the classic songs from the 1937 release, including ‘Heigh-Ho’, ‘Whistle While You Work’, ‘The Silly Song’ and ‘Someday My Prince Will Come’.

5. Marc Webb took inspiration from Walt Disney himself

Walt Disney has inspired countless filmmakers over the years – and now Marc Webb can add himself to that list. When storyboarding Snow White, the director delved into the Disney archives for ideas, and something Walt had been working on in the 1930s caught his eye: “One sketch that didn't make it into the original film – about the Prince being held in the dungeon —really stuck with me,” Webb told The Direct. “It was a storyline that Walt never got to complete to his satisfaction. So, in a sense, Jonathan was our effort to pick up where he left off.

“We've been careful to preserve the iconography of Snow White that we love while also exploring Snow White's romance and romantic relationship a bit more deeply.”

6. It’s available to watch in multiple formats

A new Disney blockbuster simply has to be witnessed on the big screen – and at Cineworld, you’ll have multiple ways of watching it.
