Jurassic World: Rebirth was one of 2025’s most roarsome summer blockbusters and the name of its sequel may have just been revealed. The title “Jurassic World Liberation” has seemingly been reserved by Universal for use, with a potential release date scheduled, too.

What will the next Jurassic World movie be called?
The next Jurassic World movie will be the fifth movie in the “Jurassic World” era and the eighth in the Jurassic franchise overall. A direct sequel to 2025’s Jurassic World Rebirth, it currently looks as though the film is moving swiftly through its development phase, and the acquiring of domain name “Jurassic World Liberation” is likely to be its title.
Who is directing Jurassic World 5?
Jurassic World Rebirth director Gareth Edwards is signed on for the follow-up, though it’s not yet known who will pen the script. Many fans hope we might get to see more of the dinosaurs roaming around our world and that Edwards might be able to live out his dream of a two hour movie in which we witness how T. rex navigates city life.
In an interview with Swrve, Edwards said his favourite scene in the Jurassic franchise was when we see the T. rex in San Diego in The Lost World. “I like it when they get to the gas station. I also like it when it [the rex] gets to the house and it drinks from the pool. I just wanted two hours of that. Maybe one day we’ll get two hours of that.”
When will Jurassic World Liberation be released?
It is early days and the film appears to still be very much in development, but Universal Studios has reportedly reserved a release date of 8th June, 2028 for the project. Interestingly, this seems to align well with its cast’s schedules…
Who will be in Jurassic World: Liberation?
Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali are all set to return for the next Jurassic World movie, with a 2028 proposed release lining up well with Johannsson’s current schedule. The star is currently working on The Exorcist: Martyrs and The Batman: Part II, the possibility of filming starting isn’t likely until 2027 earliest, while Bailey intends to focus some of 2026 on his charity the Shameless Fund – but don't worry, as he told People, he'll be returning to acting later in the year.
