Behind the camera: 2025 off-screen moments everyone was talking about

When it comes to the biggest moments of cinema in 2025, we would write several lists and still have plenty of material left to work with. From Tom Cruise battling his nemesis on a propeller plane that was actually mid-flight in real life, to the moment when Bob evolved into Sentry and decimated the Thunderbolts without so much as breaking a sweat – we’re spoilt for choice.

Still, we’d be lying if we said that the biggest movie moments of the year were contained entirely to the big screen. As anyone who’s chronically online can attest to, the experience of seeing what celebrities get up to off-screen is just as fun, especially as it helps us all to more closely relate with the current stars of Hollywood. After all, can you say that you really know a person until you’ve seen them eat about a dozen of the spiciest chicken wings known to man?

With that in mind, it’s time to honour those off-screen moments, the ones that had us clogging up the DMs of our most beloved friends and family (sorry, not sorry).

Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson’s romance

How could we not start here? Easily the most wholesome story of 2025 was finding out that The Naked Gun co-stars, Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson were actually an item in real life. Aside from the fact that this is a lovely dream come true for fans of the film, it’s also quite rare for older couples to make the headlines in such a way.

With stardom often feeling like a young person’s game, to see two actors find romance in later life is inspiring. The fact that Neeson is a widower and Anderson has had several divorces just made us cheer them on even more – now if they could just get married on the set of The Naked Gun 2, that would make the universe whole again.

Tom Cruise fanboying over Cineworld

If it hadn’t been for just how adorable Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson are together, this particular moment would have won the top slot, but second place isn’t bad. It isn’t too often that one of the biggest movie stars on the planet speaks about how much he loves visiting Cineworld whenever he’s in the UK, but that’s exactly what Tom Cruise delivered with this snippet from the red carpet.

It’s hardly a secret that Cruise is a massive movie buff, but there’s something so endearing about the idea that, just like everyone else, he loves munching on a bag of popcorn whenever he settles in for a new blockbuster. If you ever needed a reminder to treat yourself to the same experience, this is as good a PSA as any – you might even see Tom Cruise when you’re on your way out the door.

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande go viral for good

The two titans of Wicked went stratospheric during the press tour for the film last year with memes, fan art and much discussion about their friendship. It was a wild ride that made their onscreen chemistry feel even more palpable, and it left us wondering whether or not lighting could strike a second time when the pair would be back on the road ahead of Wicked: For Good’s release. Reader, it certainly did and it was glorious.

From batting away helicopters to fixing one another’s wardrobe mid-conversation, it’s the type of friendship that has you mesmerised. It’s a bit like when twins make up their own secret language to converse in – it doesn’t make a lot of sense to anyone else but for some reason, you just can’t look away.

Jonathan Bailey and ScarJo made us do a double-take

While not quite as iconic as Cynthia and Ariana, there was another friendship(?) that stole our attention in 2025. In the run-up to the release of Jurassic World Rebirth, co-stars Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey cranked the temperature up to the nth degree by giving each other one heck of a smooch on more than one occasion.

Even now, we’re not quite sure whether these public displays of affection were designed to drum up chatter (because they most certainly did) or if it was a result of getting caught up in the excitement of releasing one of the year’s biggest films. Here’s hoping we get some answers when Jurassic World Rebirth 2: I Kissed Lord Brigerton and I Liked It, comes out.

Chicken Jockey stole the show

How could we not mention Chicken Jockey? It was crude and nonsensical but otherwise inescapable when A Minecraft Movie came to town. Even if you didn’t get a chance to catch the movie yourself, there’s a good chance that you heard about audiences up and down the country having an out-of-body experience when a small zombie sat on top of a blocky chicken.

The scene became so intertwined with the zeitgeist that Cineworld even had specific Chicken Jockey screenings of A Minecraft Movie where eager fans could embrace the zaniness of it all and signal the arrival of their beloved CJ at the top of their lungs (in 4DX no less).

It’s hard to say if we’ll see something quite as wacky as Chicken Jockey in 2026, but to make sure you’re up to date with all the latest in Hollywood happenings, Cineworld is the place to be.
