The Incredibles are back! After 14 long years, Mr Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) and Elastigirl (Holly Hunter) are returning to our screens with Violet (Sarah Vowell) and Dash (Huck Milner) – and let's not forget the newest member of the family, baby Jack-Jack (voiced by Eli Fucile).
Not only does Incredibles 2 look like a great time for both kids and grown-ups, in that classic Pixar way, it also has a timely and topical storyline. It centres around a campaign to bring superheroes into society and rehabilitate the public's image of them, with Helen/Elastigirl as the face of the campaign and Bob/Mr Incredible holding down the home front. While Elastigirl goes to work fighting crime, at home Jack-Jack's powers are growing in a way nobody was expecting...
We sat down with two of the producers of the film and the writer/director Brad Bird, who also wrote and directed the first film, which won an Oscar for Best Animated Film as well as a nomination for Best Original Screenplay. So, no pressure. Find out their secret formula for avoiding the common pitfalls of sequels and remaining true to the heart and soul of these characters that audiences already love so much.
