The Force is definitely with Star Wars fans this autumn, as Cineworld is showing all of the main films in the legendary franchise on the big screen as part of its Star Wars Sundays series. Whether you’ve seen the movies several times before or you’re new to the iconic series and want to see what all the fuss is about, watching the action unfold in one of Cineworld’s state-of-the-art cinemas is sure to be an awesome experience. What’s more, like all the films in our autumn ‘back to the big screen’ series, we’re offering tickets to these Star Wars Sundays for just £5 each!

But what can you expect when you take your seats for these special showings? Here, we’ve rounded up 10 of our favourite Star Wars moments, detailing why they’ll look incredible on the big screen…
1. Attacking the Death Star (A New Hope)
The original Star Wars film may be nearly 50 years old, but this scene – in which Luke Skywalker joins an X-wing squadron on a mission to attack the Death Star and free Princess Leia from capture is as thrilling now as it ever was. Luke’s awesome acrobatics as he tries to shake off Darth Vader’s TIE fighters will look especially cool in Cineworld’s immersive Superscreen format, where you’ll feel like you’re sat right there in the cockpit with him.
2. Luke’s lightsaber battle with Darth Vader (The Empire Strikes Back)
No list of the best Star Wars scenes would be complete without this epic stand-off between Luke and Darth Vader in an illuminated air shaft, during which the rebel warrior discovers the Sith Lord’s true identity. The scene that inspired millions of kids to request a toy lightsaber for Christmas, it’s packed with stunning visuals, spectacular stunts and simmering tension – ideal for big-screen viewing!
3. Rey and Finn flee from the First Order (The Force Awakens)
Awe-inspiring action begs to be seen at the cinema. Take this breathtaking scene from The Force Awakens, for example. Starting with Rey and Finn’s desperate dash towards the Millennium Falcon as bombs pepper the desert all around them, it then segues into a frantic aerial battle between said spacecraft and the First Order’s TIE fighters. Seen on a massive screen with crystal-clear visuals and thundering, lifelike sound, it’ll be an experience you’ll never forget.
4. The Ewoks save the rebels (Return of the Jedi)
Those Endor natives may be cute, but they’re also rather adept at forest combat – something that Imperial forces don’t reckon with when they attempt to capture a Rebel party led by Han Solo. In a counterattack that Robin Hood and his Merry Men would be proud of, the hairy horde rain down arrows on the retreating Stormtroopers, sucker-punching any stragglers with adorable traps. At once thrilling and hilarious, it’s a big-screen moment to cherish.
5. The Battle of Scarif (Rogue One)
The Star Wars series is famous for its scintillating set-pieces, and this is one of our absolute favourites. Masterminded by the genius SFX team at Industrial Light & Magic, the Battle of Scarif is a breathless symphony of action as vast fleets of Imperial and Rebel fighters engage in fiery combat against the deep void of space. With beautiful pyrotechnics exploding across every inch of the big screen, you’ll want to look everywhere at once.
6. The Rebels get that crushing feeling (A New Hope)
In a scene that resembles the worst kind of nightmare, the gang of Rebels find themselves stuck inside a trash compactor upon the Death Star. Despite their desperate pleas for C-3PO to halt the machine from the outside, the walls continue to close in rapidly, threatening them with imminent death. Will they escape? The tension is almost unbearable – and it’ll be ramped up even further when viewed on a giant screen.
7. Luke thwarts Jabba’s plans (Return of the Jedi)
As ‘fates worse than death’ go, Jabba the Hutt’s Great Pit of Carkoon is right up there. And that’s exactly where the captured Luke, Han and Chewie are destined to end up before Luke conjures up some Jedi magic while walking the plank towards the horrible hole. Performing an impressive backflip, he’s able to retrieve his lightsaber and break his friends free from Hutt’s evil clutches, all while John Williams’ famous score soars heroically in the background. Spine-tingling.
8. The Speeder chase on Endor (Return of the Jedi)
Whether it’s cars, motorbikes or boats, a high-speed chase always looks amazing on the big screen, pulling you right into the heart of the action. In this particular case, the pursuit is carried out on Speeders through a forest on Endor, where the Rebel crew are trying to destroy the second Death Star. Whether you watch it in standard 2D or in Cineworld’s immersive Superscreen format, you’ll be ducking and diving as if you, too, were hurtling through the scrub.
9. ‘I’m all the Jedi’ – The Rise of Skywalker
Sidious probably felt proud of himself for coming up with the line “I’m all the Sith” while locking horns with Rey in a Force lightning duel. However, if he was hoping it would lead to his ultimate victory, he was much mistaken, and Rey’s determined retort of “I’m all the Jedi” soon has him reeling, both physically and figuratively. With streaks of light crackling across the screen – not to mention oodles of edge-of-your-seat tension – this scene is definitely one for cinema viewing.
10. Luke confronts Kylo Ren’s army (The Last Jedi)
You’ll know by now that pretty much nothing fazes Luke Skywalker – and in this scene, he shows nerves of steel to face Kylo Ren’s army head on. Watching a battalion of Walkers emptying their proverbial barrels upon the now-bearded Jedi will be quite the spectacle on the big screen – even if Luke’s apparent suffering will leave a sour taste in the mouth, albeit temporarily.
