The Devil Wears Prada 2, Verity, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey – 2026 might just be the year of Anne Hathaway

Anne Hathaway is having a stacked year, and we know she’s going to crush it. In 2026 alone, she’s appearing in five very different films. And not just as the main star, but also as a singer-songwriter and producer. She’s acting elite, and she’s produced Verity, as well as starring in it. Fans will know she can sing, too, with Mother Mary featuring a song "Burial" co-written by her and Charli XCX.

And, with one of our most anticipated releases of the year, The Devil Wears Prada 2, set to arrive soon on the big screen, Anne Hathaway and Anna Wintour brought some delightful foreshadowing presenting at the 2026 Oscars to get us even more excited for the upcoming comedy-drama.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 (1st May)

But first, to one of her most beloved roles in The Devil Wears Prada. We’re so excited to see the sequel, with Hathaway’s Andy Sachs returning to the world of fashion magazines. But with print magazines now in decline, the battles over advertising revenue that ensue lead to delicious rivalries.

Anticipation is off-the-scale high for the sequel we’ve waited 20 years for. The teaser trailer racked up astonishingly high views within the first 24 hours. There are a lot of us who can’t wait to see Andy Sachs again. Not long to wait now, in cinemas on 1st May.

We love that Anne Hathaway does not walk away from her successful early films. She clearly has affection for the roles that shaped her early career. But that hasn’t stopped her from striding forward and starring in films across many genres, from epic classics and mystery-thrillers to psycho-dramas.

Mother Mary (24th April)

In this tense thriller Hathaway plays a fictional pop star meeting her former lover (Michaela Cole) the night before her mega tour begins. The film is an acting and singing showcase, putting Hathaway’s talents front and centre. It’s an unexpected role for the Devil Wears Prada star, but we’re excited for her new screen adventure.

The Odyssey (17th July)

With Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey’s huge production and ensemble cast, anticipation builds for Hathaway’s role in this epic adaptation of a Greek king’s journey after the Trojan War. And it's just one of two book to screen adaptations we can expect Anne Hathaway to feature in this year.

The End of Oak Street (14th August)

Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor star in an American mystery-thriller, in which their family begins to notice some strange goings-on in their neighbourhood. The eerie 1980’s suburban backdrop makes a creepy contrast as the story becomes deadlier.

Verity (2nd October)

She’s having a strong year behind the scenes too, producing and starring in Verity, a film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, Verity. This psychological thriller follows a writer struggling to make ends meet as a ghostwriter for a successful author. The discovery of disturbing autobiographical notes and deadly secrets adds suspense.

The Princess Diaries 3

While not likely to be released in 2026, we also can't not mention the possibility of a third Princess Diaries film. Hathaway wants to return to her breakout role as Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries, and a threequel is now in pre-production. And we know she’d really love Julie Andrews to return as Clarisse. Again, the wait has been long. It’s been 20 years since Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, 23 years since The Princess Diaries.

This is shaping up to be Hathaway’s year. As she wrote on social media: ‘Miracles happen.’ For her, in 2026, they do.
