Long before Colin Farrel first stepped on a film set as a paid, credited actor, he was a fifteen year old boy who stumbled across the filming of Far and Away, Ron Howard’s 1992 American Western, in Dublin.
“Far and Away shot in Dublin. That was really exciting,” Farrell told us. “That was the first film set that I ever saw. I remember walking down the quays one day along the River Liffey and seeing these big, huge cranes in the air and spotlights coming down.”
Discovering it was a film starring Tom Cruise, Farrell continued, “That was like, “Wow it’s actually [real].”

Starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, a decade later, Farrell’s role in The Minority Report would see him acting alongside Cruise himself in what is largely considered the breakthrough role of Farrell’s career.
