Think of the classic movie canines – Lassie, Old Yeller, Shadow. Right, now scrub those from your mind because the upcoming Marvel Phase Five movie Deadpool & Wolverine introduces us to Dogpool. Who that? Keep reading to find out.
Who or what is Dogpool?
That would be the pooch named Peggy who has been given a cameo role in the new Deadpool flick (we see her licking Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool at the end of the trailer while Hugh Jackman's Wolverine looks on in confusion).
The unfortunate Peggy, a cross between a Pug and a Chinese Crested, has been dubbed the 'UK's ugliest dog' in 2023 but it evidently hasn't hampered her movie ambitions.

How did Peggy end up being cast as Dogpool?
Reynolds explained everything in a recent interview with Empire Magazine.
“Her real name is Peggy, and she won the award for Britain’s Ugliest Dog,” says Reynolds. “The reason why I was a huge proponent for her was because she feels like the animal manifestation of Wade Wilson.
“It was, just like many things during the writing process, a tiny little afterthought, and it grew. It was one of those things where you just keep listening to the movie, and Dogpool became a staple.”
