The first of two Secret Screenings in September at Cineworld took place last night with I Swear hitting the big screen.
Starring Robert Aramayo as real life Tourettes campaigner John Davidson, I Swear is set against the backdrop of Glasgow. It tells the true story of how John Davidson was first diagnosed with Tourette’s, and the misconceptions and discrimination people like John faced having a largely misunderstood disorder.
Arriving at Cineworld on 10th October, I Swear tickets will be on sale soon. Get ready via the link below and see what those who attended the I Swear Secret Screening thought.
There’s really nothing more special than feeling seen. Especially when difference can see you marginalised from the rest of society. A number of viewers celebrated how John’s story with Tourette's resonated with their own experiences of autism and other neurodivergent disorders.
Very inspirational, as an autistic I could relate to some of John’s traits. I know it’s not the same as Tourette’s but we all have our unique struggles. It inspires us to be our true selves, let people know about it and help others.

Such a lovely and uplifting film and definitely a crowd pleaser. I don’t have Tourette’s, but as an autistic individual who had their fair share of struggles, it was very cathartic.

I had both a good cry and plenty of genuine laughs.
Representation matters, people!
Were you thinking about sleeping on I Swear? Well, so were these people, and now they’re here to tell you you need to see it, too.
A film I wouldn't have gone to see, however, it was a great watch. It had some heartfelt moments and some crazy one liners from John's ticks. A lengthy watch, but refreshing to see something I completely wasn't expecting.

Absolutely brilliant watched the trailer beforehand and wasn't sure but if that wasnt a secret screening I wouldn't have probably seen it.

For many viewers, I Swear has found its way into their top films of the year, with Robert Aramayo offering an outstanding performance.
Absolute belter of a film up there with best of the year

Absolutely beautiful. Had me laughing one minute and sobbing the next. If people were to watch one film this year it should be this one. A fantastic message and inspiring story

Absolutely one of the best films of the year. I laughed I cried and I feel I learned something about living with Tourette’s. Robert Aramayo gives a fantastic performance, a very BAFTA worthy film but not a pretentious way, life affirming and heartwarming. Loved every minute.

Best film of the year so far. I loved how they used comic timing to both illustrate how Tourette’s is not something you can control but also show it is part of life. I laughed but also sobbed at times, not once had I thought how torturous it can be to the person who has it.

In fact, one X user even thinks this film could scoop up an Oscar or two…
Oscar worthy, its that good

Rory’s review perfectly summarises the Cineworld Secret Screening experience – a pleasantly surprising watch that brings together the humour with the harrowing and, at its core, is fiercely relatable.
Great choice, the trailer didn’t convince me, but the film is brilliant! More of a moving drama than I expected (w/ good comic moments) & will be relatable to ppl w/ many different conditions. Shame/frustration & the impact of supportive vs hostile community are so well portrayed

And what about Secret Screening attendees over on Letterboxd? Top tips include packing tissues, because you'll be a blubbering mess and demanding that everyone you know watch this incredible, eye-opening film.
The next Secret Screening is coming on the 29th September. If you're not yet booked on, get in on the secret and watch a film before its official release.
