Summer sure feels like a long time ago, but at least the kids have made it to the first half term of the academic year – and we’ve got plenty of ideas on how to keep your children entertained, whether they’re little ones or big kids! From getting into spooky season with suitable but thematic titles, to colourful new releases and money saving offers.
Here’s why you should have Cineworld on your October Half Term itinerary.
Escape the unpredictable weather
While Cineworld offered a reprieve from the heatwave with the promise of air conditioning and – let’s face it – shelter from the summer showers, Cineworld once again opens its doors to escape the elements. This time they’re just a little cooler, but still pretty wet! With shorter days, heading to the cinema is a great option when it starts to get dark at 4pm and winter starts to bite. And there’s lots of great films to watch while you’re there.
Get your spooky fix at the flicks
It’s quite difficult to find an age appropriate horror, but if you’ve got older kids there are a couple of options whether you head to Cineworld’s Horror Film Season, or fancy a more recent release. The Descent is screening on the 25th October, rated a 15. The latest instalment in The Conjuring franchise, The Conjuring: Last Rites is also another chilling paranormal watch and rated a 15, still screening right now at Cineworld.
For younger viewers, you could check out the re-release of the 2021 film ParaNorman, available to book in 3D. This is rated a PG and comes from the same creators as Coraline – a twisty, creepy animation in which 11-year-old Norman is the only person who can save his quiet town from being overrun by zombies.
Book to watch titles for all the family including Tron: Ares and Night of the Zoopocalypse
There are lots of great October movie releases – and half term is a great opportunity to tick some of them off your watch list. In particular, if you’re attempting to keep the kids entertained, there are a few releases that all the family can enjoy. For the little’uns, check out Night of the Zoopocalypse, where a meteor strikes a zoo and unleashes a virus that turns most of the zoo animals into zombies. Or step away from the creepy and straight into the cutesy as Gabby’s Dollhouse hits the big time with its first feature length movie – and you can't get your hands on our adorable cup with a selection of toppers to choose from including all the cool cats.
For something more gritty, dive back into the grid with Tron: Ares, which is screening in a number of special formats and delivers action, technology, and a star-studded cast.

The return of Cineworld's family offer
Making heading to the cinema that bit more affordable, Cineworld is reducing its ticket prices on family films. Currently announced on the line-up, benefit from £2 Family Films on the summer belter Bad Guys 2.
And don’t forget our Be More Childish offer with a Family Ticket allowing adults to pay kids prices on groups of one adult and three children, or two adults and two children under 14.
Be surrounded by epic films
Cineworld's ScreenX Fest is taking place across the first weekend of October half term from the 24th until the 28th, with some epic films returning in one of Cineworld's exclusive special formats, ScreenX. A completely unique experience, you'll literally be in the middle of the action with the projection stretching across the walls either side of the big screen for an immersive and exciting cinema experience.
Returning films include Top Gun: Maverick, Jurassic World Rebirth, How to Train Your Dragon, and F1. And all tickets cost just £5.99 each.
Head to the cinema on Tuesdays for less
Cineworld is working with Tesco Clubcard to bring you cheaper cinema tickets on Tuesdays. Clubcard holders can use their vouchers to book £5 tickets through the Cineworld website. Available every Tuesday, you can watch any 2D screening for just £5. 50p worth of points can be doubled in value, with the option to cash in more points or pay the difference at the point of booking.
So, what are you waiting for? Head to Cineworld this October Half Term for plenty of tricks and treats.
