School’s out! Movies to watch over the summer holidays at Cineworld

There are a bunch of great August movie releases coming just in time for the summer holidays, and we’re here to steer you in the direction of all the family friendly options available – decidedly away from some of the less appropriate horrors also out in the same month.

For parents, it’s easy to get lost in the trenches of 6 weeks of trying to keep your kids amused – especially when the UK inevitably delivers rain for days on end. But there’s a number of reasons why you should head to Cineworld this summer, namely that we’ve got so many good family films beyond the current slate of new releases – though check those out too!

New releases including The Fantastic Four: First Steps, The Bad Guys 2, and Superman

The best family movies are those that cater for all ages, and there have been some great releases over the last couple of months, including the latest Marvel outing, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. James Gunn’s DC Universe has also officially launched on the silver screen with Superman.

If your preference is more dinosaurs over superheroes, don’t forget you’ve still got time to hunt dinosaurs with Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey in Jurassic World Rebirth, which has taken the box office by storm.

For fans of animation, Dreamsworks’ The Bad Guys 2 is here, and the ragtag of misfits have met their match with an all-girl crime gang enticing them back into their world of unlawful endeavours. Or why not check out Paramount’s take on the Smurfs, starring Rihanna.

Family favourites now reduced to £5 a ticket

Cineworld is reducing its tickets on select family films. These include the live action How to Train Your Dragon, as well as Pixar’s latest universe spanning adventure, Elio. The £5 tickets also apply to the live action of Lilo & Stitch.

Partner these discounted tickets with Cineworld’s Be More Childish campaign in which adults pay kids prices, that means a family of four could go see a film for as little as £20.

Older movie releases return to Cineworld for £1 Family Films

As well as brand new releases, Cineworld has also brought back a ton of other family favourites, from 2024 hits to releases from earlier this year – and the tickets cost just £1 for adults and kids.

In August, all cinemas will show Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Moana 2, Paddington in Peru, and A Minecraft Movie as part of the £1 Family Films campaign.

Select cinemas will also bring back Flow, Transformers One, the live action of Snow White, and Dog Man.
