Prepare to meet The Wild Robot in special formats IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX and Superscreen

The Wild Robot sweeps you up in a big-hearted story of unlikely parenthood, not to mention the complex emotions that come with finding one's place in the world.

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave; Black Panther) voices Roz, a consumer robot who finds herself marooned on a remote island. While adapting to the language of the island's animal inhabitants, Roz comes across an orphaned baby gosling whom she adopts as her own. As the chick grows into a fledgling, subsequently named Brightbill (Kit Connor), Roz must reconcile with deep-seated emotions contrary to her programming.

As you might expect, tissues are needed for this inspirational and gorgeous family movie, which is adapted from Peter Brown's bestselling children's book. Your experience of The Wild Robot will be enhanced when you watch it in special format IMAX, plus the Cineworld-exclusive formats 4DX, ScreenX and Superscreen.

Remember that with the Cineworld Family Ticket, you only need to pay a small uplift on special formats. The Family Ticket is valid for 2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children.

Here's what you need to know about each of them and how they'll send your viewing experience into the emotional stratosphere.

IMAX expands the visual canvas of Roz's new island home

The Wild Robot is directed by animation veteran Chris Sanders (Lilo & Stitch; How To Train Your Dragon), so it's no surprise that the film looks and sounds gorgeous. Roz's lumbering movements are nimbly contrasted with the quicksilver body language of the island's inhabitants, including the devious yet well-meaning fox Fink (voiced by Pedro Pascal) while there are numerous aerial sequences to take the breath away and reinforce the beauty of the natural world.

Need we say more about why IMAX is the way to go? Not only does the IMAX screen size make the characters and the island seem larger than life but with dual projection, the image has the perfect balance of warmth and sharpness to draw you into a stylised, heartwarming animation that utilises a fantastical conceit to teach us something profoundly human.

IMAX's remastering process helps ensure that primary colours pop off the screen with greater depth and sharpness. IMAX auditoriums are also equipped with a perfectly tuned integrated sound and speaker system for heart-pounding audio that will truly blow you away. From the sounds of Brightbill's prospective new flock to Kris Bowers' moving score, all of the film's textural elements are set to be enhanced by IMAX.

4DX physically enhances the action and comedy sequences

The 4DX multi-sensory format is unique to Cineworld cinemas in the UK and Ireland. Motion-programmed seats that move in time with the on-screen action, plus wind, rain and scent effects, are exactly what you need in a film like The Wild Robot where every breath of wind and physical character interaction reinforces the rustic and organic properties of the dazzling island where Roz finds herself washed up.

To reiterate, 4DX is an experience wholly unique to Cineworld. Find out more about 4DX in the following clip.

ScreenX allows you to step into Roz's point of view

ScreenX, another Cineworld-exclusive format, utilises cutting-edge 270-degree projection to extend a given film onto the side walls of the auditorium. By overwhelming you with sights, sounds and emotions, ScreenX gives you a better feel for what the titular Roz is going through as she faces a unique example of empty nest syndrome, with her surrogate child preparing to take his first steps into the great beyond.

If you've never experienced ScreenX, watch the following clip and discover why 270-degree vision is the way to go.

Superscreen makes the movie feel like a masterpiece

Experience the movie in Cineworld-exclusive Superscreen, which fuses state-of-the-art projection, delivered on huge screens, with breathtaking multidimensional sound powered by epic Dolby Atmos speakers. From the sweep of the migration sequences to the climactic action showdown (no spoilers), everything about The Wild Robot promises to look outsized and increasingly impressive in Superscreen.
