The award-winning director of Barbarian is back with another bone chilling horror. Zach Cregger’s Weapons arrives at Cineworld on 8th August and you can book to watch it in 4DX, IMAX, and Superscreen. The question is: are you brave enough?
Justine Gandy (portrayed by Julia Garner) is left in the firing line of irate parents when all but one child in a classroom of kids run off into the night and disappear. Justine might be the primary suspect, but that doesn’t mean the rattled community are only wondering who is behind the disappearances – they’re also starting to ask what might be.
2025’s horror releases have been nothing short of thick, fast, and utterly terrifying, and if you’ve got the opportunity to see it in one (or all) special formats, we’re urging you to amplify this frightful experience.
Jump out of your (moving) seat watching Weapons in 4DX
Choose to watch Weapons in 4DX and ‘jumping out of your seat’ will be taken to a whole new level where horror is concerned. An immersive experience, not only is there light, wind, water, and smells tailored to the supernatural horror, in 4DX theatres you’ll also be sat in a chair that moves in response to what’s going on on-screen. At least it means if you’re shaking with fright you can blame it on the chair, right?
Take in all the scary details in an IMAX screening of Weapons
There’s nothing like IMAX, where everything is optimised to be bigger, louder, and more razor sharp. In horror movie terms, it makes for a cursed viewing experience that’ll make the nightmares playing out on screen impossibly vivid and real. Really, when Weapons promises to be a “sharp, scary, demented delight” what more could you want than a screen that stretches wall-to-wall, floor to ceiling, with speakers that’ll slice through every foreboding beat?
Weapons is scary, but it’s SUPER scary in Superscreen
If you don’t have an IMAX cinema near you, why not try out Superscreen at Cineworld for a frightful screening of Weapons? Superscreen theatres offer a ginormous screen, boosted with Dolby Atmos speakers. As the mystery of the missing children edges closer to the supernatural, you’ll be able to pick up on each sinister clue on this spectacularly large screen.
