The anticipation for the Danny Boyle postapocalyptic sequel was huge, and it’s now surpassed a huge milestone at the box office, hitting over $100 million. With Aaron Taylor-Johnson now exposed to the concept of 4DX extreme cinema, it might just be about to shoot up again – if you take his advice, that is.
The production budget for 28 Years Later was $60 million, meaning it's already made a significant profit that is sure to continue to grow in the coming weeks of its theatrical release. Since hitting the $100 million mark, this also makes it the third horror movie to do so this year, joining ranks with Sinners and Final Destination Bloodlines.
Released in a bunch of special formats, one such format is 4DX. Any self-respecting movie buff needs to experience big film releases such as 28 Years Later more than once, ideally in a different format.
We were able to blow Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Alfie Williams' minds when we explained the concept of 4DX to him.
Asking him why he thought seeing horror movies in 4DX was essential, he said, “Because you’re already on the edge of your seat, and the tension and suspense, that I think if you’re waiting for something to- you know something is going to happen, if something then comes and takes your legs or makes you jump, you’re already on the edge, aren’t you?”
Sounds like Aaron’s a 4DX convert!
As well as having their eyes opened to 4DX, Aaron and Alfie also shared their choice of cinema snacks, their highlights working with Danny Boyle, and Aaron’s advice for aspiring actors.
