The idea of backrooms originated on a 4chan forum. Backrooms are liminal spaces, usually categorised by being abandoned or empty rooms that appear never ending. The only way to get out? By peacing out on reality.
Of course, the internet has ran with and developed this idea. Some backrooms are not interconnected and feature levels, and some are inhabited by hostile creatures. The concept ended up being developed by a YouTuber, our director Kane Parsons, who created a series of short films. Now he’s bringing backrooms into the mainstream with his first feature film at just 20 years old.
