The Crawley family returning for Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale
Robert Crawley
Played by Hugh Bonneville 7th Earl of Grantham, Robert Crawley remains the owner of the estate. In the final instalment, though, we see Robert facing the prospect of stepping down as the head of Downton and passing it on to his daughter, Lady Mary Talbot, who presents another problem as she finds herself shrouded in controversy.
Cora Crawley
Played by Elizabeth McGovern, Cora Crawley is the Countess of Grantham and wife to Robert Crawley. She’s American and the mother of Lady Mary Talbot and Edith Pelham. In The Grand Finale, we see Cora supporting Robert through the next era of Downton, as well as welcoming her brother Harold Levinson back across the Atlantic.
Lady Mary Talbot
Played by Michelle Dockery, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale centres the aftermath of her divorce from Henry Talbot and subsequent shunning from society. Supported by her sister, Edith Pelham, Lady Mary is not one to shy away, especially should she be the mistress of the house of Downton soon. There may even be new romance on the cards, as newcomer Gus Sambrook (Alessandro Nivola) catches her eye, a friend of her uncle, Harold Levinson.
Edith Pelham
Played by Laura Carmichael, Edith is Lady Mary’s younger sister, second daughter to Robert and Cora Crawley. She is Mary’s biggest supporter, helping both her sister through the disgrace of her divorce, and her family as they tackle a new dawn on Downton.
Harold Levinson
Played by Paul Giamatti, Harold Levinson is Cora Crawley’s brother. He still resides in the United States, but pays visit to his sister at Downton Abbey in Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, and it seems his reason for calling is to deliver some bad news.
Other returning family members include:
Lady Isobel Grey, played by Penelope Wilton, mother of Mary’s late first husband, Matthew Crawley. Herbert “Bertie” Pelham, played by Harry Hadden-Paton, husband of Edith Pelham. Brother-in-law of Mary and Edith, Tom Branson returns, played by Allen Leech.
