1. Heart Eyes

The course of true love never did run smooth, particularly when one's partner gets speared through the head. Such is the level of menace awaiting a group of hapless, lovestruck young teenagers in the blackly comic slasher horror Heart Eyes, which comes from the makers of the witty Happy Death Day series. Olivia Holt and Mason Gooding (Scream) lead the cast.

2. The Monkey

Longlegs director Osgood Perkins adapts this creepy Stephen King short story, which hails from the writer's 1985 Skeleton Crew collection. A seemingly innocuous banging cymbal monkey toy becomes an emblem of dread and panic.

3. Sinners

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler reunites with actor Michael B. Jordan for this sweatily atmospheric slice of American Southern Gothic. Jordan stars in a dual role, playing twin brothers who are irrevocably drawn back to their hometown where a horrific evil awaits them.

4. Until Dawn

The terrifying PlayStation game Until Dawn posits a skin-crawling scenario, asking the player to pick from a multitude of life-or-death scenarios that may well doom the remaining NPCs. The game is now adapted by horror movie expert David F. Sandberg (Lights Out; Annabelle Creation), focusing on the Groundhog Day-esque nightmare that unfolds when a group of youngsters find themselves in a remote house and are repeatedly killed by invading monsters. Can they crack the code to survive the night?

5. 28 Years Later

We've waited a long time for the latest chapter in the skin-crawling viral outbreak series. With Danny Boyle back at the helm and Alex Garland back on scripting duties, we once again come face to face with the dreaded Rage virus some 28 years after the initial outbreak in Boyle and Garland's seminal 28 Days Later (2002). Ralph Fiennes, Jodie Comer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are the new additions to the cast and original star Cillian Murphy is reputed to be joining the cast.

6. M3GAN 2.0

Memeable movie hit M3GAN repped a huge hit for Blumhouse studios, reveling in its campy story about a killer humanoid robot who just can't resist the urge to dance. In the sequel, the underlying tech for M3GAN has been stolen and misused by a powerful defense contractor to create a military-grade weapon known as Amelia. In order to stop it, the killer doll must be resurrected...

7. Untitled Conjuring film

8. Saw XI

You just can't keep the Jigsaw killer down. Tobin Bell's iconic serial killer scored a critical and commercial success with 2023's Saw X, and now he's back to devise more fiendish traps to punish the wayward and unworthy.

9. The Bride!

Oscar nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal turns director for this lavish throwback to the golden age of the Universal monster movie. An all-star cast fronts this remake of The Bride of Frankenstein, including Penelope Cruz, Christian Bale, Jessie Buckley, Peter Saarsgard and Annette Bening.

10. The Black Phone 2

Scott Derrickson's creepy 2023 chiller The Black Phone was adapted from Joe Hill's short story of the same name and was powered by Ethan Hawke's menacing performance as child killer The Grabber. With Hawke's character seemingly dead and buried, we wonder where the story will go from here.

11. Five Nights at Freddy's 2

The hugely successful Five Nights at Freddy's gaming franchise spawned an equally successful movie adaptation in 2023. The haunted children's arcade once again takes centre stage in Blumehouse's sequel, which is expected to delve even further into the complex lore that underpins the games themselves.
