The summer holidays are coming. School is almost out! Parents and kids alike will be scrambling for things to keep themselves entertained, but we reckon we’ve got the answer and the answer is Cineworld.
Yes, we may be biased, but there’s plenty of reasons to head to Cineworld this summer, including some next level family movie releases and seasonal offers. Read on for the full five!
1. Summer releases like The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Smurfs are great for all ages
The slate of 2025 films for the summer months is just too good, with a great selection of releases that will entertain the whole family, from your youngest to your oldest. Get up close and personal with the latest batch of dinosaurs in Jurassic World Rebirth, or choose between Marvel and DC superheroes with the release of both The Fantastic Four: First Steps and Superman in July.
If you’re after something a bit younger, Smurfs starring Rihanna is also available to book this summer, and if parents are in need of an injection of nostalgia, Freakier Friday is coming in August, the Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis sequel to the 2003 film.
2. Families can save money with Cineworld’s £1 Family Films offer
Here at Cineworld we’ve got all parents’ backs. Not only do we understand the stress of keeping the kids entertained over the long six week school holidays, we also get going to the cinema isn’t always the most affordable option when strapped for ideas and cash.
However, Cineworld has launched its £1 Family Films. Essentially, all adult and child tickets are just £1 per person on select films – and we’re bringing back family favourites including A Minecraft Movie, Snow White, and Paddington in Peru.

3. Watching films at Cineworld offers an extra dimension with its special format releases
If you want to upgrade your cinema experience, Cineworld offers cinema-goers more with its selection of special formats, including both 4DX and ScreenX which are exclusive to Cineworld in the UK.
Alongside IMAX and Superscreen, these add a whole new realm to how you watch movies. 4DX is a complete sensory experience with a moving chair, as well as smells, wind, and water thrown into the mix to heighten what you’re seeing on screen. Equally, ScreenX offers a 270º projection that surrounds you and drops you straight into the action.
A unique way to experience some of the hottest releases, you can book the likes of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Jurassic World Rebirth, and Superman right now in a range of special formats, with more new releases set to get the treatment across the coming months.

4. Rain or shine, duck into a cinema and have a break from UK summertime
Let’s face it, you can’t guarantee the English weather. Lately we’ve been left roasting with the highest temperatures seen in recent years. However, just because it’s the summer doesn’t mean we aren’t usually highly likely to see some rain. The joy of cinemas is they offer both aircon and shelter should the rain clouds make a return.
Whether you opt for one of the £1 Family Film screenings or book on to watch a different release, this is a great last minute family activity to take refuge from the elements.
5. Cinema visits can engage kids in diverse stories and spark their imagination
Six weeks is a long time for kids to be without structure and you may be worried about keeping your children's minds stimulated. While there’s plenty of chat around the pros and cons of screentime, we don’t think watching films should be discouraged, especially when going to the cinema can be made into a real event that brings the family together and exposes kids to stories that can spark imagination.
Take Elio for instance. A film that children can find a piece of themselves in with the titular character often feeling left out. It’s a film that shows those feelings aren’t uncommon and, equally, you can and will find your tribe and have out of this world adventures.
While it’s been confirmed Elio’s eye patch is an injury sustained in the film rather than fan theories that thought maybe he had amblyopia, it still sign posts the importance and diversity being represented on screen, too, and allowing kids and adults alike to gain different perspectives than their own.
Cineworld is opening its doors to you this summer, with plenty of ways to keep entertained. And don't forget to check out the £1 Family Films, with the return of The Wild Robot, Mufasa: The Lion King, Dog Man, and more returning in this excellent offer.
