The Accountant 2 – Five things you need to remember before the release of the new action sequel starring Ben Affleck

Joanna Langfield of The Movie Minute felt that The Accountant 2 hit the spot, writing: "Quite literally a blast from the past, this sequel feels like the kind of entertainment crowds used to flock to theaters to see. Some action, some fun, a touch of morality. A pretty good way to spend a couple of hours."

Tatat Bunnag of Bangkok Post reckoned that this new sequel is every bit as good as the original film, writing: "The Accountant 2 successfully continues the legacy of its predecessor with its blend of action, humour and sibling dynamics."

As for Travis Hopson of Punch Drunk Critics, he rated this movie even more highly than the first one, commenting: "The sequel boasts bigger set pieces, more bloodshed, a wider story palette, and more Jon Bernthal as Christian’s diabolical brother, Braxton, with all of these pieces adding up to an entertaining buddy action film."

So, too, did Nathan McVay. The HeyUGuys writer commented: "The Accountant 2 is that rare thing: a sequel that builds and improves on its forebear. With exceptional performances, cracking chemistry and great dialogue, It outshines its predecessor in memorability, entertainment, and sheer enjoyment. A hit!"

The riffing between the two main actors was the highlight for Zach Pope of Zach Pope Reviews. He said in his review: "The Accountant 2 thrives on the brotherly chemistry between Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal. It’s a wildly entertaining sequel that brings a lighter, more playful tone to the franchise and it totally works."

That sentiment was shared by Kristin Lopez of The Film Maven, who wrote: "When the movie is about two brothers struggling to relate to the outside world and each other it’s heartfelt, it’s fun to watch, and it’s funny as hell. It helps that stars Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal have such a strong chemistry between them."

Ditto Ernesto Valenzuela. In his review for Discussing Film, he wrote: "The Accountant 2 features Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal at the top of their game, delivering an explosive and surprisingly hilarious sequel that puts their brotherly bond front and centre."

Finally, Chris Bumbray of JoBlo loved The Accountant 2's retro feel, describing the movie as "a total blast of old-school action filmmaking".
