The Running Man, which is getting a second adaptation, starring Glen Powell, Jayme Lawson, Lee Pace, Colman Domingo, and Michael Cera, which will be released on 7 November.
With the first trailer for The Running Man now here, watch below and read on for everything else we know so far about the 2025 remake starring Glen Powell.
What is the plot of The Running Man?
Based on the novel of the same name, it feels kind of spooky (but in a cool way) that the Richard Bachman novel (a pseudonym of Stephen King’s) is being adapted for a second time in the year 2025. Why? Because the book itself, first published in 1982, is set in 2025. And now it’s here… And maybe it’s disturbing that this doesn’t feel like a far cry from where the pits of modern day society could fall. Too deep? Sorry.
Anyway, The Running Man follows Ben Richards (Powell), a man desperate to make ends meet and pay for the medical needs of his daughter. The solution? To go on the biggest TV show in the country, in which he will be hunted down in order to be killed. Should he outrun his fate and survive for 30 days, he’ll win a fortune beyond his wildest dreams. But, as with all dystopias like this, are the odds against him? Is the whole thing rigged? Promising Glen Powell’s own unique stamp on the remake, you’ll have to tune in to the bloodthirsty game to find out.

Does Glen Powell do his own stunts in The Running Man?
Edgar Wright, director of The Running Man, revealed to Empire that Glen Powell does a lot of his own stunts in The Running Man. In the trailer we see him jumping off a bridge, as well as scaling down a building in just a towel, which Wright urged was not a ploy to draw in a certain demographic.
Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Powell revealed the level of stunts in The Running Man worried his mother; "I'm getting to do some really cool stuff that really worries my mom." Of course, there's also a lot of running.
Is The Running Man (2025) based on a book?
As mentioned, The Running Man is adapted from the Stephen King book of the same name, written under the pseudonym Richard Bachman.
